It has been two decades since Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has joined in any festive celebrations with any Barisan Nasional coalitions. However, the recent formation of a coalition government in the last elections has led to his attendance at the Chinese New Year celebrations hosted by the MCA, marking a significant shift in political alliances.

Netizens are happy that he attended the event but are cautious at the opposition supporters who might find ways to incite hate towards our Prime Minister. Thus far, there have been minimal comments against him attending said event.
Other netizens who are Muslim are happy to see our Prime Minister promoting unity among all races in Malaysia. After all, we are all Malaysians regardless of our religious or ethnic backgrounds.
Some are excited to see the potential return of our Prime Minister to the UMNO meetings to share a few speeches. The last time he shared a speech in an UMNO meeting was before he was sent to prison on false accusations.
