In his open letter, Lim Kit Siang said Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad should have taken on an advisory role instead of contesting in the 15th General Election. He also questions Mahathir’s recent statement that Malays are losing their political power and that a non-Malay could become Prime Minister in two general elections, and urges him to return to the original nation-building principles of Malaysia as a plural nation.
Lim Kit Siang Advises Mahathir
Lim Kit Siang highlights the importance of resetting and returning to these principles to reunite a polarised plural society and make Malaysia a first-rate world-class nation. He also warns about the dangers of rampant corruption and unscrupulous incitement of racial and religious emotions, and calls for tough action.
Ultimately, the focus of Lim Kit Siang’s advice to Mahathir is to work towards restoring the original nation-building principles of plural Malaysia and championing Vision 2020. Lim says he believes no non-Malay will ever become PM of Malaysia and he does not know what Mahathir is barking about. Mahathir attacked the Anwar Ibrahim government after he failed to host a Malay forum.
