Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has suggested the formation of a unity government in the state of Melaka for the upcoming elections. Speaking at the Ramadan charity event in Masjid Ar-Rahman, Kampung Pulai, Serkam, Jasin, he said the formation of such a government is in line with the current Federal government.

Zahid, who is also the President of UMNO, stated that this change in the political landscape could also be seen in the six states that will hold their state elections soon. These states are Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
During the event, Ahmad Zahid also made donations to eight Tahfiz centres and gave “duit raya” (Eid al-Fitr monetary gifts) to their students. Additionally, he handed out grants worth RM60,000 from the Smallholders Rubber Industry Development Authority (RISDA) to five recipients. In the 2021 state election in Melaka, the Barisan Nasional (BN) won more than two-thirds of the seats and currently governs the state.
