Carlton Palmer, a former midfielder for the England football team, has been admitted to the hospital for further tests after suffering a suspected minor heart attack during the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday.
Carlton Palmer’s suspected heart attack
The 57-year-old had previously played for West Brom, Sheffield Wednesday, and Leeds and won 18 international caps. He had also been a manager for Stockport and Mansfield. Palmer underwent a heart operation in 2016 due to a heart condition, which involved widening his arteries. During the half marathon, he experienced issues with his heart within the first mile, which led to him being taken to the hospital for further observation and testing.
In an update on Twitter, Palmer expressed his gratitude for the support he has received and shared that he is still in the hospital undergoing tests to determine the cause of his recent heart issue.
