A 55-year-old widower from Pahang, Malaysia had high hopes for a new love he found on Facebook, and even withdrew his life savings and took out a bank loan to prepare for their upcoming nuptials. He is probably a heartbroken welder now.

However, the fairy tale ending he had envisioned turned into a nightmare as he was scammed out of RM183,600 by his partner, who was part of a love scam syndicate.

The victim was left with nothing but heartache and financial ruin, cautioning the public to be wary of attractive profile pictures and to stay vigilant against the tactics of scammers lurking on social media.
