PM Kishida Targeted: After Abe, Another Attack On A Japanese Leader

What is becoming of Japan? After the attack that killed former PM Shinzo Abe, now an attack on Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. He was evacuated from a fishing port in western Japan after a suspected smoke bomb was thrown at him on Saturday.

Object Lands Near Kishida

The PM was about to give a speech in support of a Liberal Democratic Party candidate when the incident occurred. Videos showed an object landing near him, after which a man carrying a backpack and holding a cylindrical object was tackled by a few men.

Kishida Unhurt

An explosion was heard shortly afterward, causing the crowd to scatter. Fumio was unhurt, and the individual was apprehended and taken into custody. The incident occurred during Japan’s electoral campaigns for four lower house by-elections scheduled for April 23.
