He was subsequently rescued by Gelje Sherpa, a Nepali. However, it seems that netizens are calling the Malaysian man ungrateful after the Nepali helped him.

Malaysian man called ungrateful after failing to thank rescuer

According to news reports, he apparently thanked his rescue insurance, and partner organizations after being rescued. However, he failed to mention Gelje Sherpa, to which it backfired hard on him. Netizens are stating that he should’ve known to thank his sole rescuer, especially knowing how vicious those on social media can be.

There are those who are asking why he did not do the gracious thing to thank Sherpa. Others respond by stating that for climbers like him, it could be due to an ego complex. Some Twitter users state that climbing Mount Everest is rarely a bucket list, but it is done for acknowledgement towards one’s achievements.
