K-pop sensation Lisa from Blackpink and Hong Kong actress Angelababy have been banned from China’s Weibo social media platform. Weibo provided no detailed explanation for the bans, leading to speculation among fans and media outlets. Some believe the censorship may be linked to reports that Angelababy attended a burlesque performance by Lisa at the Parisian cabaret Crazy Horse.

LISA at Crazy Horse

The Thai superstar posted photos of herself in cabaret attire on her official Instagram in October, quipping, “Such an amazing experience at (Crazy Horse)… Call me whenever you need someone to fill a spot.”

Chinese censors have a history of blocking content that goes against the country’s conservative values. President Xi Jinping has also recently emphasized promoting traditional Chinese virtues. The move sparked criticism from Weibo users who claimed censorship had gone too far.
