In a groundbreaking move, Johor, Malaysia, plans to establish a rehabilitation center in 2024 to address individuals deemed deviant from Islamic teachings, including those convicted of same-sex relations by the Syariah Court. With an allocated RM400,000, the center aims to assist individuals in purifying their faith and returning to the right path.

This initiative, the first of its kind in Malaysia, signifies a multifaceted approach, offering rehabilitation, awareness programs, counseling, and religious guidance. State officials are actively working on the center’s setup, anticipating its operation by July 2024.
