Albania’s Nedim Bajrami made history by scoring the fastest goal in European Championship history, netting just 23 seconds into their Euro 2024 opener against Italy. This shattered the previous record of 67 seconds set by Dmitri Kirichenko of Russia in 2004.

Bajrami, who plays for Sassuolo in Italy, capitalized on a poor throw-in by Italy’s Federico Dimarco, striking the ball high into the net from inside the box in the Group B match. Italy quickly responded, with Bastoni equalizing in the 11th minute and Nicolo Barella putting the Azzurri ahead in the 16th minute.
