Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia’s top men’s singles player, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland. The world number four overcame Japan’s Yushi Tanaka 21-11, 21-18 in the second round. Despite an easy first set, Zii Jia faced strong resistance from Tanaka in the second but maintained composure to secure his spot in the last eight. He will face either China’s Lu Guang Zu or Japan’s Koki Watanabe next. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin, upset Taiwan’s sixth seeds Yang Po Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang, progressing to the quarterfinals.
