Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that politicians occupy only 6% of key roles in government-linked companies (GLCs) and investment companies under the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc). As of September, 24 politicians hold 26 positions in 21 entities among MoF Inc’s 116 companies, including prominent organizations like Petronas and Prasarana. Anwar emphasized that appointments undergo rigorous screening to ensure candidates’ qualifications, integrity, and expertise align with the companies’ needs. Appointees must meet criteria such as professional qualifications, industry experience, and personal accountability. This transparency marks a reduction in political appointments compared to previous administrations.
