Rafizi Ramli, Malaysia’s Economy Minister, confirmed he has submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, effective June 17, 2025. He said the decision was made to uphold accountability and the people’s mandate, following his defeat in the PKR election. Rafizi stated that the loss indicated he no longer had the party’s mandate to advance the people’s agenda in government. He will spend his remaining annual leave until June 16. Rafizi expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Economy staff for their cooperation during his tenure, emphasizing the democratic practice of making way for new leadership.
