PETALING JAYA: Eight Sabah Bersatu division leaders have strongly defended party president Muhyiddin Yassin against demands for his resignation following the party’s total defeat in the recent Sabah state election.

In a joint statement, they insisted that deputy president Hamzah Zainudin and Sabah Bersatu chief Ronald Kiandee, who served as Perikatan Nasional’s state chief and national election director respectively, should bear full responsibility for the disastrous campaign. The leaders dismissed Sabah Bersatu secretary Yunus Nurdin’s call for Muhyiddin to step down as party president and PN chairman, stressing it does not reflect the divisions’ stance and urged Hamzah and Kiandee to conduct a post-mortem for the Supreme Council.
