5.8 million EPF accounts with less than RM10,000

Some 5.8 million account holders in the EPF do not have RM10,000 in their balance and this is a sign of a massive crisis for a country like Malaysia.

Utusan says Malaysia is heading for a social crisis by 2030 if the issue of more than 40 per cent of contributors having a balance of less than RM10,000 in the EPF is not resolved.

The online portal says the amount is not enough for the daily expenses of retirees who are on average at risk of health problems in addition to the rising cost of living.

Malaysia just launched a massive RM400 billion five year plan. Will this plan help to correct this situation at the EPF?
