Malaysiakini journalist B Nantha Kumar has lodged a police report against a Pakistani agent, Zahid, who allegedly attempted to bribe him. Nantha claimed he was investigating Zahid’s alleged involvement in a migrant worker trafficking syndicate known as the “Fly” syndicate when the agent handed him an envelope of cash. He said he took it as evidence but was swiftly arrested by the MACC on bribery accusations. Nantha denied soliciting any bribe and urged authorities to probe Zahid’s background, questioning how a previously jailed human trafficker could still reside in Malaysia under a professional visa.
