Education Ministry to Probe Claims Families Not Informed of Student Drowning Incident

The Education Ministry will investigate allegations that families of students who drowned in a recent incident were not promptly informed. Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh said the ministry views the matter seriously, especially involving student safety and communication lapses. He stressed that schools must follow strict protocols during emergencies to ensure transparency with parents.

Probe into School Communication After Drowning Tragedy

Authorities are gathering reports from the school and relevant departments to determine whether proper procedures were followed. Wong added that any negligence found will be addressed accordingly, including disciplinary action if necessary. The ministry also aims to improve existing safety guidelines to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Ensuring student safety and timely communication remains a top priority, he said.
