Bukit Kayu Hitam Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) commander SAC Mohd Nasaruddin Mohd Nasir escaped unharmed after his vehicle was shot at near the Malaysia-Thailand border early yesterday. Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said two suspects on a motorcycle fired two rounds from a semi-automatic weapon at close range.

The incident occurred at 5.40am while Mohd Nasaruddin was driving to perform Subuh prayers. Police immediately launched Op Tutup to track down the attackers. Adzli described the shooting as a direct challenge to enforcement agencies and urged personnel to remain vigilant in carrying out duties.
