Airport Parking Shock: RM240 Bill After Jakarta Delay

A Malaysian traveler’s short trip to Jakarta turned into an unexpected five‑day ordeal after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau disrupted flights.

Amirul Aizat, who had planned to return the day after attending a coffee event, found himself stranded when his airline canceled his flight.

The delay not only extended his stay but also led to a hefty surprise back home. Upon returning to Malaysia, Amirul was greeted by a parking fee of RM240 at the airport barrier gate.

Normally, his one‑day trips cost around RM110, but the prolonged disruption doubled the expense. “Paying RM240 for parking felt quite expensive,” he admitted, though he acknowledged the situation was beyond his control.

Amirul shared his experience online, offering advice to fellow travelers. He urged people to check airport parking rates in advance, prepare financially for unexpected delays, and always secure travel insurance or takaful coverage.

His story resonated with netizens, highlighting how natural disasters can ripple into everyday inconveniences.
