UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh, disagrees with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s stance that there is no need for government guidelines on Muslim participation in religious celebrations or events at non-Muslim places of worship.
Akmal Clashes Again
Dr. Akmal, who is also a Melaka state government Exco member, argues that such guidelines serve as a reference and reminder for Muslims, as not everyone is well-versed in Islamic rulings. He compares it to traffic laws—many licensed drivers still need reminders.
Anwar previously stated that the Cabinet decided the guidelines were unnecessary, as Muslims already understand their boundaries. Dr. Akmal also warned non-Muslims not to interfere in the debate, as the guidelines are solely for Muslims.
