KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 – A political analyst has suggested that DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke may come under pressure to step aside if the party suffers significant losses in the 16th General Election (GE16), warning that a sharp decline in parliamentary seats could trigger questions over the party’s leadership and future direction.
In an article in Berita Harian today, the analyst said: “If DAP suffers a significant setback in the 16th General Election (GE16), for example declining from 40 parliamentary seats to 25, he may come under pressure to reconsider his position as secretary-general.
I would not rule out the possibility of him choosing to step down voluntarily if the election results show a major decline.”
He also added that Steven Sim is a likely favourite to replace Loke after the next General Elections, that is in the event PH does not fare well.
Meanwhile, the analyst said DAP must ensure its actions match its public commitments and push ahead with long-promised reforms if it hopes to maintain voter support ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16), according to a political analyst.

Commenting on DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s offer to resign as a minister over developments related to former prime minister \Najib Razak’s house arrest issue, the analyst said the move was intended to reassure party members and Chinese voters that DAP remained committed to its principles.
However, questions have emerged after Loke remained in the Cabinet despite the offer, raising concerns among some supporters about the party’s consistency and commitment to its stated position.
