Anwar Welcomes Guinea-Bissau President, Urges Petronas and FGV to Invest in Africa

Malaysia and Guinea-Bissau have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties, focusing on halal industries, Islamic finance, energy, and capacity building. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged Malaysian companies like Petronas and FGV to explore ventures in Guinea-Bissau, with potential to expand into Africa.

Malaysia also pledged support via the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), offering training and scholarships in areas like governance and food technology. Discussions included collaboration in semiconductors and oil and gas.

Welcoming Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, Anwar highlighted shared diplomatic values and said Malaysia would be “a second home.” This marks Embalo’s first official visit to Malaysia.
