Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim dismissed the upcoming “Turun Anwar” protest, stating that calls for his resignation are politically ineffective with the next general election still two years away.

He defended the RM100 one-off aid for adults and emphasized its importance to low-income communities. Anwar rebuked critics who mocked the amount, explaining that for rural households, even RM100 can make a difference.
The aid is part of an increased welfare allocation from RM13 billion to RM15 billion. He also noted a planned fuel subsidy adjustment, reducing RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre later this year to further ease public burdens.
