KUALA LUMPUR, July 23, 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to safeguard the relationship between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) amid speculation ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.
In a symbolic social media post, Anwar shared a pantun stressing that differences should not sever friendships: “Berbeza langkah, jangan putus kawan, selagi muafakat, kita sehaluan.” The post was accompanied by photos of Anwar and Zahid laughing together after a Cabinet meeting, underscoring their camaraderie.
Anwar Reminds Zahid
The timing of Anwar’s message comes as BN’s loyalty to the Unity Government has been questioned, with BN contesting only 25 of 36 seats in Negeri Sembilan while PN contests the remainder. Anwar has previously warned ministers not to attack coalition partners during campaigns, while Zahid reaffirmed UMNO’s commitment to remain with the Unity Government until the next general election.
