He stressed the need to build a strong middle class and transform ASEAN from a production hub into a major consumer market to boost its global influence.

ASEAN’s strength lies in regional peace, not dependence on superpower security umbrellas. Liew called for empathetic, inclusive policies, faster climate action, financing for shared initiatives like the ASEAN Power Grid, and stronger institutions. He highlighted ASEAN Vision 2045 as a roadmap for a more resilient, integrated, and people-focused regional community.
