Highlighting Malaysia’s efforts, Teo noted that RM1.2 billion was lost to online scams last year, with 6,000 scam posts removed. By June this year, 24,000 scam posts were taken down, with RM600 million in losses. Teo stressed that removing posts isn’t enough and platforms should better screen content, especially when scammers pay to boost posts.
