Kuala Lumpur: Australia has set a new daily record for COVID cases on Saturday with 361 new cases of the Delta strain recorded in the country’s most populated states.
With more than 15 million people in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, accounting for 60% of the country’s population, the country also reported five deaths.
For the past six weeks, the area has been under lockdown and Reuters says New South Wales had its worst pandemic day, with 319 new cases.
There is a lot of resistance among residents to comply with the new lockdown regulations, authorities say.
