Kuala Lumpur: A Belarusian sprinter Krystsina Tsimanouskaya remains in a stand-off at Tokyo airport after fleeing to Japanese police claiming she is being kidnapped by the son of the country’s ruler.

Tsimanouskaya has criticised national team coaches and claims officials tried to remove her from Japan.

She did not plan to fly to Belarus and had sought the protection of police at Tokyo’s airport and the stand-off is still ongoing.

The IOC said it had been in touch with Tsimanouskaya who it said is at Haneda airport and being accompanied by a Tokyo 2020 staff member.
