KUALA LUMPUR – More than half of Bersatu’s assemblymen attended a recent gathering, but only five MPs were present, reflecting the party’s deepening split. Most Bersatu MPs are aligned with deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, with 16 led by vice-president Dr Ronald Kiandee calling for president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign.

Putrajaya MP Radzi Jidin’s attendance surprised many, as he was thought to be close to Hamzah. Penang Bersatu Youth chief Izhar Shah Arif Shah said Radzi had tried to bridge differences between Muhyiddin and Hamzah but appeared to have given up.
