Bersatu’s Hulu Langat information chief, Shafiq Abdul Halim, was fined RM10,000 by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for posting offensive TikTok content on March 31, allegedly stoking racial and religious sentiments regarding the KL Tower workers’ issue. Shafiq denied the accusations, claiming he presented relevant facts during investigations. He criticized MCMC for sending four officials to his home to deliver the fine notice, calling it intimidating and causing neighborly concern. Shafiq noted the officials took photos without clear explanation and failed to identify themselves. His lawyer is preparing a response to MCMC’s letter.
