PUTRAJAYA, Aug 6, 2026 – Barisan Nasional (BN) is determined to defend all 21 state seats it currently holds in Melaka during the upcoming election, while remaining open to cooperation with other parties. BN chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh had conveyed his commitment to retain all seats. Zahid stressed that any cooperation must be based on sincerity and good faith, adding that BN would not share the seats it already won.

He expressed hope that BN’s momentum from victories in Johor and Negeri Sembilan would continue in Melaka, shaping the political landscape ahead of GE16. Zahid said consensus would guide any pact discussions at the federal level.
