JAYA, Aug 7, 2026 – A 27-year-old man was charged in Singapore over videos posted online allegedly insulting the Muslim community. The police said on Aug 6 that they received a report about the man’s actions on March 1, but discovered he had left Singapore before the report was lodged. He was deported from Malaysia yesterday with the assistance of local authorities and arrested upon arrival in Singapore, The Straits Times reported.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in jail, a fine, or both. Police also confirmed he is assisting in a separate probe into a video showing a person stepping on a Quran, believed to have been filmed on a public bus. On March 7, police ordered Meta to disable access to the offensive content. Authorities stressed they take threats to racial and religious harmony seriously.
