KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) faces a tough challenge in the upcoming Sabah state election as it struggles to attract support from young voters, according to Ilham Centre.
Executive director Hisomudin Bakar said BN’s image has been hurt by party-hopping controversies and its inability to appeal to the 18–40 age group, which makes up as much as 60% of voters in some constituencies.
He warned that the youth segment remains a large swing bloc, and failure to engage them could prove costly. In contrast, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) maintains an advantage as the incumbent government.
