Boeing 737 Max 9 New Inspections Reveal Critical Tightening Needed, Alaska and United Airlines Report

United Airlines discovered necessary “additional tightening” in Boeing 737 Max 9 inspections after Alaska Airlines faced a fuselage blowout. These findings compelled the grounding of 171 similar planes by the FAA. 

Boeing 737 Max 9 shows critical tightening needed 

United found issues in the door plug’s installation, including bolts requiring tightening. The Alaska Airlines incident involved the fuselage’s door plug detaching mid-flight. Both United and Alaska reported grounded flights and the need for thorough inspections following FAA and Boeing guidelines. 

This incident adds to the scrutiny on the 737 Max series after prior fatal crashes attributed to flawed flight control software, pushing planes into fatal nosedives despite pilot intervention.
