BYD Driver Faces Charges
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said prosecutors had agreed to proceed after receiving the investigation papers.
The charges are under Sections 41(1), 42(1) and 52(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, relating to causing death through dangerous driving, dangerous or reckless driving, and failing to stop after an accident.
The collision occurred at about 3.44pm on October 10 when the BYD allegedly struck the rear of a Perodua Bezza travelling in slow traffic towards Segambut.
The impact caused the Bezza to spin into another lane and collide with three other vehicles, following contact involving a motorcycle. Five-year-old passenger Asiah Ahmad Syahir later died at Kuala Lumpur Hospital from severe head injuries. Her father, who was driving the Bezza, and a motorcyclist were also injured.
