New: CIA’s Cryptic Coin Post Sparks Mystery and Suspicion in Malaysia

1 min read

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) sparked intrigue by posting an image on its X (Twitter) account showing three Malaysian coins: a 20 sen coin featuring a stick figure with an ‘S’ symbol on its head, a 10 sen coin with unclear writing, and a 5 sen coin depicting an animal footprint. The coins were described under “Artifact of the Week: Coins Left at Nathan Hale’s Statue.” The CIA explained that it is tradition for agents to leave coins at the statue of Hale, regarded as America’s first intelligence officer, for good luck before overseas missions. The post raised suspicion among Malaysian social media users, who questioned its meaning and urged local intelligence to monitor CIA activities in Malaysia.
