Selangor state executive councillor Ng Suee Lim confirmed that discussions on privatising street parking management across four local councils are in final stages, with an agreement expected by August 1. The Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) system, involving Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) Selangor and its subsidiary Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd, will include a private concession company investing RM200 million to install around 1,800 CCTV cameras. Revenue will be shared between councils, Rantaian Mesra, and the concessionaire. Ng assured effective state oversight and said Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, and Selayang councils have agreed in principle, despite concerns over potential reduced council income.
