PUTRAJAYA, Nov 1 — The Public Service Department (JPA) has announced that civil servants are no longer required to wear neckties during working hours or meetings. The directive, issued in a circular dated Oct 31 by JPA director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, aligns with the Madani Government’s flexible and people-friendly administrative approach.

The department said the decision considered Malaysia’s warm climate and the need for energy conservation. However, they remain mandatory for formal events involving foreign delegations and international meetings.
