Conservative Malaysians are complaining that this is in fact the new norm in their universities as well. A netizen states that her university has sent out reminder and warning emails regarding male students wearing crop tops to classes. This is also true for female students.
Others state that at times, these students are culture shocked when they come to study in big cities. Despite this, the hate that the student is getting is rather harsh. People are free to wear what they like, but on the other hand, learning institutions are not the place for someone to experiment with the barriers of fashion.
