Covid Surge: 57.3% Increase in New Cases in November

In the last week of November, Malaysia witnessed a concerning 57.3% surge in Covid-19 cases, with 3,626 reported cases during the 47th epidemiological week. Health Director-General Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan revealed that the majority of cases (48%) involved individuals aged between 20 and 40, with 98% exhibiting only mild symptoms.

Covid Surge

The weekly cases have consistently exceeded 1,000 from ME41/2023 to ME47/2023, indicating an increase rate between 7.1% and 57.3%. Eight active Covid-19 clusters, totaling 121 cases, have been reported, predominantly linked to the education sector. Admission rates to health facilities have risen to 2.9% per 100,000 during ME47/2023.
