Former Penang deputy chief minister II and ex-DAP stalwart Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy says the recent quit rent dispute between Lim Guan Eng and Chow Kon Yeow underscores the existence of two rival camps in the party. While DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has denied such divisions, Ramasamy argues that political power has forced the party to accommodate Malay-Muslim interests.

He says this is weakening its role in championing Chinese and Indian concerns. Guan Eng, once a dominant figure as secretary-general, Penang chief minister and federal finance minister, has seen his influence reduced. His clashes with Chow reflect the growing tension between Team A and Team B.
