Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), M. Kulasegaran, sparked debate after being seen at court proceedings involving activist Arun Dorasamy, who faces charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.
Critics Say DAP Damaged by Controversy
Critics, including Shahril Sufian Hamdan and Khairy Jamaluddin, argued his presence fuels perceptions of racial bias within DAP, despite the party’s multiracial image. Kulasegaran clarified he only met Arun briefly outside the courtroom, not during proceedings.
Khairy urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and DAP leadership to act decisively, warning the incident could damage DAP’s credibility and deepen public concerns over racial tension and selective treatment.
