Perikatan Nasional chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has warned of potential job losses and rising prices of essential goods due to global economic uncertainty triggered by ongoing conflict in West Asia.
PN Proposes National Economic Intervention Council
He said supply chain disruptions and higher logistics costs are already pressuring production across sectors, especially manufacturing, logistics, and SMEs. Without proactive policy intervention, Malaysia could face escalating costs in food, transport, utilities, and services.
Samsuri proposed forming a National Economic Consultation and Intervention Council involving government, opposition, NGOs, academics, industry players, and civil society to ensure collective, non-partisan solutions prioritising national stability and public welfare.
