Dr. Victor Chang, a Chinese-Australian surgeon born in Shanghai on 21 November 1936, was a pioneer in cardiac and transplant surgery. His significant contributions include developing an artificial heart valve and an artificial heart assist device. The Good Dr Victor Chang
He led a team that performed a successful heart transplant on 14-year-old Fiona Coote, making her Australia’s youngest heart transplant survivor. Dr. Chang also founded a Foundation to educate Southeast Asian surgeons in advanced cardiac surgery. Despite his tragic murder in 1991, his revolutionary work continues to save lives worldwide.
