Ed Sheeran Loses 200K Followers Amid Tour Fallout

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran has lost around 200,000 Instagram followers in just 24 hours as his U.S. Loop Tour faces turmoil over the removal of rapper Macklemore.

Macklemore was dropped after delivering a “Free Palestine” speech at shows in New Jersey, sparking venue backlash and claims that billionaire Robert Kraft pressured promoters to exclude him.

Myles Smith Defends Sheeran But Stands With Palestine

Following Macklemore’s departure, all remaining support acts—including Finneas, Myles Smith, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga—announced they would no longer perform, citing solidarity with Palestinians and opposition to censorship.

Sheeran, 35, insisted his concerts are not political forums, stressing that his audience includes young people from diverse backgrounds. He said Macklemore’s removal was a promoter and venue decision, not his own, and vowed not to abandon fans or touring staff.

In a statement, Sheeran described the Israel–Palestine conflict as a “human tragedy” but explained he avoids turning shows into political platforms, preferring to focus on unity and joy.

Macklemore, meanwhile, defended his stance, saying “taking a side can cost you” but reaffirming his friendship with Sheeran.

The controversy leaves Sheeran’s tour without opening acts, with 18 dates still scheduled before year’s end.
