Electrician Sentenced for Cheating in TNB Meter Modification Case

An electrician was sentenced to six days’ jail and fined RM3,500, or six months’ jail in default, for cheating a business owner regarding an electricity meter modification. Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin handed down the sentence after S. Thiagarajan, 40, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Electrician Sentenced for Cheating in TNB Meter Modification Case

The offence, committed on March 20 in Puchong, involved the victim paying RM780 to avoid being reported to TNB. Thiagarajan, who cited financial struggles during mitigation, was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code, carrying a maximum five-year jail term or fine. The case was prosecuted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
