MBK Takes Action as 30% of Employees Face Obesity Concerns

The Kuantan City Council (MBK) is addressing staff obesity issues, as 30% of its 1,300 employees are classified as obese based on BMI screenings. Kuantan Mayor Datuk Razihan Adzharuddin revealed that a panel clinic has been appointed to assess employee health and identify causes, such as diet, exercise, and environment.

Recognizing obesity as a significant concern, MBK is exploring measures like suspending elevator use for a day to encourage physical activity. The initiative aims to promote healthier lifestyles and improve overall staff well-being, while also raising awareness about the impact of obesity on health and productivity.
