However, some are questioning why some fans would be daft enough to literally lit up mini explosives in a confined area.

Regardless, it is unclear why the fan did such a thing without thinking there would be severe consequences. It is a given that people actually got hurt in the theater as fireworks in a confined area is not a good mix.
