A firefighter was hospitalised for heat exhaustion after tackling a fire that broke out in a bedroom on the 15th floor of Block 29 Tampines Street 86 on January 9, 2026. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted at 9.05pm and reported that the unit was unoccupied at the time.

Firefighters forced entry into the smoke-filled flat and extinguished the blaze using two water jets. The fire was largely confined to the bedroom, with its cause still under investigation. Approximately 100 residents were evacuated as a precaution. SCDF reminded the public to extinguish candles, avoid unattended cooking, not overload sockets, and switch off unused electrical appliances to prevent fires. Photo: DP
