Police in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, say a man guarding a Home Depot in what looked like a police uniform was not the lawman he appeared to be.
On October 12, an officer noticed a man wearing what appeared to be a generic law enforcement uniform and carrying a firearm while working security at the store. That prompted a follow-up investigation by the department’s Special Investigations Unit.

Detectives identified him as Nicholas O’Bryant, 39, of Lucedale, Mississippi. Police say he carried credentials identifying him as a Mississippi officer, but he was not a sworn law enforcement officer there.
He was arrested, charged with falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer, and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. The charge is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless convicted.
